WINTER GREEN

Cool your cabin fever by growing a pot

of fresh green wheat grass indoors.

Enjoy an early dose of spring on your windowsill, or just grow it for

your cat to nibble. Wheat seeds for sprouting are available at health

food and pet stores. Rinse the seeds well, then let them soak in

a jar

of

water overnight. Rinse again, then spread the seeds over an inch or

two of clean, moist potting soil in a shallow container with drainage.

Keep in a bright, well-ventilated room and spritz the seeds with water

every other day. You should have bright green grass in 7 to 10 days.
